Brief
We are seeking an Agri-sourcing Intern to join the team. The Sourcing Intern will play a key role in identifying a robust supplier base, including farmers, FPOs, traders, and capacity-building organizations, for sourcing organic Imli and jaggery and facilitating the delivery of products to the Production unit. The ideal candidate will work closely with the sourcing and procurement team to optimize collection routes, maintain relationships with farmers, and ensure product specifications are met.
Job Responsibilities
Identify and connect with local farmers, vendors, and suppliers of Imli, Jaggery and other products.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to ensure cost-effective procurement.
Ensure procurement meets quantity, quality, and sustainability standards.
Conduct research to identify reliable sources and market trends for Imli, Jaggery and other products.
Analyze price fluctuations, seasonal availability, and potential supply chain risks.
Provide insights to optimize sourcing strategies and enhance supply chain resilience.
Create detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for sourcing and procurement.
Effectively communicate with farmers, gathering feedback and work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
Provide regular updates on sourcing progress, challenges, and potential solutions.
Facilitate communication between suppliers and the organization to maintain strong relationships.
Prepare regular reports summarizing procurement activities, costs, quality metrics, and improvements.
Requirements
A Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience in an agricultural sourcing role or a related field is an added advantage.
Basic understanding of agriculture production processes, especially in sourcing and farm-level logistics.
Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with farmers and other stakeholders.
Ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions, as this is a field-based role.
Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Familiarity with basic safety practices in the field.
A strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a proactive attitude towards solving challenges.
Skill sets
Strong problem-solving skills, especially in logistics and route optimization.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and liaise with various departments.
Comfortable with basic digital tools for documentation and reporting.
A genuine interest in agriculture and sustainable farming practices.
Flexibility to adapt to changes and perform other tasks as required.
